RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Graduate Student Researcher — August 2015 - October 2021

Metcalf Infant Research Lab, Brown University

Advisor/Primary Investigator: Dr. James Morgan

  • Designed at least 13 distinct research projects examining how adults and toddlers process speech in the face of variability,

    • included recording speakers with Audacity, processing recordings in Praat, synthesizing speech with Amazon Polly and Praat, choosing and processing visual stimuli with Adobe Photoshop, and setting up studies using SMI eye tracking software, Superlab software, and PsiTurk

  • Collected data with over 600 adult and over 100 infant human subjects using eye tracking, response box, and remote online (Amazon Mechanical Turk) procedures

  • Trained and managed undergraduate research assistants in experimental techniques

  • Analyzed quantitive data using a variety of statistical techniques in R

  • Collaborated and co-authored publications with researchers from Boston University, McGill University, and the University of New Hampshire

  • Presented findings at the Boston University Conference on Language Development and the Acoustical Society of America conference in Boston
